Wider health services
Since the NHS was created in 1948, the population has grown and people are living longer. Many people are living with long-term conditions such as diabetes and heart disease or suffering from mental health issues, and may need to access their local health services more often.
To meet these needs, GP practices are working together with community, mental health, social care, pharmacy, hospital, and voluntary services in their local areas in groups of practices known as Primary Care Networks (PCNs).
The Key Medical Practice is a member of Kidlington, Islip, Woodstock & Yarnton (KIWY) PCN, which covers a population of approximately 32,000 patients along with the following practices:
- Gosford Hill Medical Centre
- Islip Surgery
- Woodstock Surgery
By working together, we can provide a wider range of services and allow our GPs to focus where their specialist clinical input is most needed.
Take a look at this short animation which explains how PCNs work and the difference they can make to patients.
How can I find wider services?
KIWY PCN has looked into the wider services that are most searched by citizens in Oxfordshire. If you’re looking for a service that may not specifically be GP-related, we have developed a list that we hope can serve as a starting point to take you to a service that meets your needs.
We have partnered with Joy, who maintain a comprehensive online library of wider health services. Clicking on one of the links below will take you straight to Joy’s factsheet about that particular service. From there, you can learn more and book time with the service directly without having to wait for a referral.
