While we try to contact you with abnormal results, we request that you do not assume that a result is normal if we do not contact you. The surgery will contact you if there is a significant problem with your results, but please contact us for all results as the GP may have made some suggestions or advice based on your results even if there is not a significant problem.
Tests arranged by hospital specialists will be returned to the specialists who requested them (they are not usually copied to us at the surgery as a matter of course). You should ring the consultant’s secretary who will get the results sent to you.
The receptionists will be available to pass on instructions from the doctors about your results. Please allow 5 working days for routine blood, urine and stool tests. However, some results may take longer.
Getting your test results
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your Patient Access account
- by phoning us on Kidlington Health Centre 01865 842 292 or Yarnton Surgery 01865 379 345 and we will tell you what the results are
We do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
Blood tests
An appointment system is operated for blood tests, available at Kidlington Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm and Yarnton Monday to Friday, 8am to midday.
