We are pleased to announce that, as of 29th April, The Key Medical Practice has formally transferred its NHS contract to Principal Medical Limited (PML). PML, a local non-profit GP organisation, now directly delivers NHS primary care services at The Key. All staff, including our GP partners, are now employed by PML.
For our patients and staff, day-to-day life at the practice will feel much the same. You will continue to see the same familiar faces, access the same services, and receive the same standard of care you expect from us.
This is an exciting step forward for The Key. In recent years, like many GP practices across the UK, we have faced significant pressures, and this transfer brings with it greater stability, renewed resource, and a long-term commitment to continuity of care for our patients. PML’s primary mission is to help practices like ours deliver more and better services than we could achieve working alone.
One of our first priorities under PML is strengthening our clinical team. We are actively recruiting additional GPs, with the direct aim of increasing appointment availability for our patients. We know access has been a challenge, and this is something we are committed to improving.
PML was founded over twenty years ago by a group of GPs who wanted to address the deep-rooted, systemic challenges facing UK primary care. Today, PML is widely recognised for running successful GP practices and delivering highly regarded community services across Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. As a non-profit organisation, PML reinvests its resources back into local services, directly benefiting the patients and communities it serves.
We look forward to sharing more about what this means for The Key in the months ahead.
